How much does it take to break the average human spirit? How many rejections? Failures? Betrayals? Losses?
How many times does a person have to try, over and over and over again, to have ANYthing remotely resembling a normal, happy relationship with another human before she finally gives up and becomes a hermit? How much of her life does she have to spend feeling like a freak, a misfit misanthrope? (ooh, alliteration :-). At least I can amuse myself...)
